NGC 1501 - Planetary Nebula in Camelopardalis

Above the horizon.  Circumpolar today
Alt: 24.56°   Az: 345.87°   Direction: North-North-West

NGC 1501 is a Planetary Nebula in the Camelopardalis constellation. NGC 1501 is situated close to the northern celestial pole and, as such, it is visible for most part of the year from the northern hemisphere. Given its visual magnitude of 11.5, NGC 1501 is visible with the help of a telescope having an aperture of 8 inches (200mm) or more.

The image below is a photograph of NGC 1501 from the Digitized Sky Survey 2 (DSS2 - see the credits section) taken in the red channel. The area of sky represented in the image is 0.5000x0.5000 degrees (30.00x30.00 arcmins).
