NGC 1398 is a Barred Spiral Galaxy in the Fornax constellation. NGC 1398 is situated south of the celestial equator and, as such, it is more easily visible from the southern hemisphere. Given its B magnitude of 10.37, NGC 1398 is visible with the help of a binocular with a 80mm aperture or a small telescope.
