NGC 869 (h Persei Cluster) - Open Cluster in Perseus

Above the horizon.  Circumpolar today
Alt: 67.95°   Az: 60.34°   Direction: East-North-East

NGC 869 is a Open Cluster in the Perseus constellation. NGC 869 is situated north of the celestial equator and, as such, it is more easily visible from the northern hemisphere. Given its visual magnitude of 3.7, NGC 869 is barely visible to the naked eye, easily visible with the help of a small binocular.

The image below is a photograph of NGC 869 from the Digitized Sky Survey 2 (DSS2 - see the credits section) taken in the red channel. The area of sky represented in the image is 0.4800x0.4800 degrees (28.80x28.80 arcmins).
